are you going to work now, you stupid computer?
i am feeling in a sufficiently lousy mood. i felt like *doing something* tonight. SO is painting in prep. for show. work people in cafe all just did an eleven and a half hour day.... and i couldn't be bothered attempting to call anyone to try and find something... anything to do. it's a sunday night.
occasionally bands play on sunday nights at rics. however, rics is the most Foul venue imaginable. it's really narrow, you can barely fit in there - strangers spend the whole time blowing cigarette smoke at you, and the staff are the rudest, most arrogant of any venue in the city. however, the do showcase the most amazing live bands in brisbane. *shrugs* it's an impass. but i hate cigarette smoke.
two rics experiences for the kids.
the tennis coats -- the support act was really not my thing. 'noise pop' ????? excuse me? pardon? i have listened to noise. i have seen many of the premier noise performers in the world (for SO's sake. noise is not my thing. i would not know noise from... well... noise if not for SO and the large collection of noise CD's. though i do like mertzbow.) noise pop might sound cute. it makes no sense. so, while boring support act played, SO and i hid in the non smoking area. this was on a sunday night. by the time the actual band came on, it was late, and everyone was smoking anyhow. which is both rude and illegal.
went out to listen to band. people next to us spent whole time Bitching about the band.
don't like the band?
leave.
you fuckwit.
they were just enchanting though.
other major rics experience was marlinchen. which are an amazing local band who have only just started playing live. incredibly balanced, well mixed EP, the band really are incredibly good - they will hopefully end up going somewhere, getting a larger fan-base, and be big enough to play at other venues. and put out a CD with songs with the vocalist on it too. (am not totally sure if i agree with the press release saying how the music is childlike though.... mum is. they are much more like the dirty three having a baby with sigur ros than mum. more like faith and disease, like that sort of stuff... the vocal are too sophisiticated. not that i am complaining - i Like them this way.)
however. rics. NO.
argh. at least the people around me Shut the Hell Up.
the sort of music i like is not suited to rics. or cigarettes. or rude, obnoxious staff members acting like they are so Unbelievably cool.
this is why i stay at home and knit - i am a grumpy old woman. only. well. not old.
yet come sigur ros, i wil venture out again, with delight! and tolerate the people for the sake of music that is just so moving it is hard not to cry.
i did my bit for knitting advertising today. work person doing a photo shoot for some... i don't know exactly. hip-hop? dj group? anyhow, i knitted and sat in the background. it looks. well. unique.
lucky is comming on. i am on the verge of being distracted by a pattern for lace knit gloves i found online today. Lace Knitted Gloves, people! come on! how exciting is that! (it's very exciting).
and i have some 7ply cotton, which seems more appropriate to me than the 8 ply wool the pattern suggests. brisbane climate. ufth. *shudders*....
but the heat means more cotton, and i love cotton.
will you post, little entry> will you?
