ok. christmas was fine.

my parents are getting a puppy!
this is the most exciting news.

christmas was quite lovely. i was in a grumpy mood because of various fun physical things.... cysts are not your friends, and nose pimples are also not your friends. however, lachlan and his family cheered me up no end. i feel a little depressed by how... different his family is to mine. but lucky that i get to share in it.

i am upgrading my sitemeter right now -its been down for the week.

saw a wonderful band night on saturday - an 'in finland' folk music night, with some incredible singers. really sad that there wasn't more people there.
and friday night was 'family dinner' at janes place. just wonderful. so many beautiful people, such a lovely evening.

for christmas i got - vitamin ph from lachlan- a great photography book. a divine vase, some wonderful goldfish notepaper, and a bat toy (!!) from lachlan's parents, a tea pot from buddy (yes, buddy the cat), the most sublime piece of artwork - a homage to the babysitters club, from my big sister, and boots from my parents. i am getting myself - 'train man' and another book from work, and Yarn.

people got a variety of things from me. primarily alcohol. i ran out of time to get everyone chickens like i did last year. and all the chickens were sold out when i went to get them from oxfam.
feeling satisfyingly full from lunch-o.

am back at work on L's jumper, halfway up the sleeve, realised i need more yarn. again. so will be begging someone for a knitpicking some time soon. :)

If your close friends have wonderful families you really like and they like you a lot too, why not become 'adopted' every holiday? In my opinion, it really does take a village to raise a child. You are now old enough to pick the village you want to be raised by. Pick the loveliest people you can find, people you admire for something they do or believe, or who are just nice.

Puppies make everybody happy. As do bat toys. I bought myself one for Halloween, it's a stuffed bat that rattles. Yes, it was intended as a baby toy, but who cares?

Yarn is always a good gift. Running out of yarn is bad. I hope you have an easy time getting your hands on the right kind!
