* we saw a room40 thingy last night.... the first two dudes are friends of lachlans, and wonderful. so physical, wild raw sounds. like keji and merzbow mixed frighteningly, but somehow excitingly together. second dudes, totally forgettable. sometimes, clicking sounds are just clicking sounds. did nothing for me. then again, i am certainly no grand reviewer of sound art. it could have been transendental and i just missed the point. the third dude created a soundtrack to a film. it was so, so mesmerising.
was easily one of my favourite room40 productions.
* firworks gallery opening was grande. many friendly people to give drinks to, and new best friend dana is great! she has a tattoo of a merit sticker! yay. sticker!
*i am now a fil-elm whore. like, several movies a day while knitting. i usually mix -bad teen flick- with -high culture subtitle action- . god, it's good. i am trying to remember my ex-s vast catalogue of favourite films. we may no longer talk, or, well, even make eyecontact, but he does have great taste in books and film. lachlan still talks about how great fallen angels was. (example one million of why i was a crap girlfriend. both times i tried to watch it, i fell asleep. hey, it was late. i was tired. i lay down. i fell asleep. *shrugs*) but, arg! there was this amazing movie we saw at some incredible japanese film festival - it was black and white, about a little girl, really subtle and gentle.... i am Dying to remember the name of it so i can show it to lachlan..... argarg! one can hardly call/ email ex saying 'er yeah, you know how i was really gross to you and your partner, well, yeah, what was that name of that film we saw a few years ago?... come on, i got you free tickets... i'll get you tickets to something else, just tell me the name... "
in the mean time, i can go through other remembered favourite directors of his, and try and find other new favourite fil-ems. i am still yet to watch 'the weeping camel'... 'samsara' frustrated me, but has really, really impacted me. bits of it keep comming up in my mind, fragments.
* craft queenland has an incredible exhibition on at the moment. i love craft queensland.
* i am studying my motivation for wanting to make art and to make a dent in the brisbane scene. i am staying with that before i dedicate any more time to digging myself a place out there. because time is precious.
* my constant, 6 year desire to teach in japan is forming into a better, clearer idea of when's and how's. i want to live overseas. and i want to do it soon. and i can. i am thinking in the next 12 months or so. yes. and i really want to learn japanese. and i want to travel to iceland, back to new york, through japan, and go to melbourne. and germany. this is all forming into what i would like to call my 'list' of goals. now, it's just convincing lachlan that a/ we can afford it, and b/ it's a good idea. he seems really warey of it.
*finish dealing with self to best of ability. wean off antidepressants. get foot fixed. learn to cook. pay off credit card. get full time job. work out what i want to do with my life. travel and live overseas. learn another language.
that is the start.

Japan is calling your name, sweety.
You could always apply to teach or tutor English in Japan. You would learn Japanese by proxy and neccessity.
Having goals gives you something to work toward. May I suggest visiting Canada as a goal? Toronto and Vancouver have fabulous art and culture centres as well as being the location of many film/movie/tv shoots.
